Jane Meyer, executive director of Smart Start of Mecklenburg County, attended the 2011 Latin American Excelente Awards Gala. This event was established to recognize Latin Americans who are high achievers.
Julio Colmenares, CEO of CGR Creative received the new Businessman of the Year Award. He started CGR ten years ago as Creative Cubes, a small, multicultural design studio, but has since changed the name to CGR Creative, now a full-service digital marketing agency.
Other awards included Businesswoman of the Year and several student scholarship. Proceeds of the event go to the Latino Student Scholarship Fund of La Noticia Foundation. Sponsors include: AT&T, Duke Energy, Wells Fargo, State Farm Insurance, RedF, Carolina’s News Channel 36, Delhaize America, Banco de la Gente, Balfour Beatty Construction, UFC Law, Compass Group, La Noticia and The Charlotte Observer.
